Sodom, Gomorrah, and the Cities of the Plain
In 1989, after passing some odd colored formations that he had passed before 30 to 40 times, Ron Wyatt was impressed to stop and closely examine them. What he discovered was the most visible, accessable authentication of the literal Word of God ever found. These ashen structural remains were saturated with encapsulated sulfur balls or leftover "fire and brimstone from Heaven." The sphinx, ziggurat, right angles and wall shapes complete with ramparts became visible even to the untrained eye.

The Genesis Narrative
And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. (Genesis 13:10 KJV)
But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly. (Genesis 13:13 KJV)
Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; (Genesis 19:24 KJV)
And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace (Genesis 19:28 KJV)

The Warning to Sodom and Gomorrah
And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: (Deu 29:23 KJV)

Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. (Isa 1:9,10 KJV)
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves. (Isa 3:9 KJV)
As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. (Jer 50:40 KJV)
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample* unto those that after should live ungodly; (2 Pet 2:6 KJV)
*ensample - greek (Hup-od-eig-ma), noun
Definition: A visible example,

This is Ron holding a large piece of sulfur and pointing to what could have been the inside of a building. Ron believed this place may have been Zoar. In the biblical account when the angels visited Lot to tell him that God was going to destroy the cities, Lot asked to flee unto a little city that was nearby. You can read about this in Genesis Chapter 19. In verse 22, the angel tells Lot, "Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou become thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar."

Genesis 19
Verse 17: ... Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. Verse 26... But his (Lot's) wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Verse 18: Lot is begging to go to a small town that was going to be destroyed. In verse 21 the request was granted. Verse 30: Lot was afraid to stay in Zoar so he took his daughters and left. Notice Lot's wife is already gone.
God already wanted to destroy Zoar because it was also wicked, but for Lot's sake He was going to spare it. After Lot left Zoar, God did destroy it.
Verse 17: "Flee for your lives! Don't look back, and don't stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!" Verse 26: But Lot's wife looked back, and she became a pillar of salt.
